The company of Wood-Mizer has quite the story to tell! A small animal cage enterprise begun in the family garage by Daniel Laskowski grew into a world-renowned company - selling not cages - but sawmills! As Wood-Mizer expanded into post-Communist Poland, explosive growth paved the way for Poland to become Wood-Mizer's European headquarters. Daniel recounts the cross-cultural differences between the countries and how the former Communistic business mindset in Poland diverged from the Christ-focused business mindset of Wood-Mizer America. As Wood-Mizer Poland grew, important discoveries were made on the most effective ways to help Wood-Mizer Poland adopt a Christian mindset toward business. In his new book, The Wood-Mizer Way -- The Story, Daniel Laskowski shares that while establishing Poland as their European headquarters, a key goal of the company never wavered - honoring Christ with their business by recognizing and cherishing the God-given value in each employee. In the process, they solved the biggest hurdle Daniel had to overcome - how to properly evaluate and pay Poland's employees. Before joining the family business, Daniel had been a software support engineer working for Hewlett Packard. Using his software system training, he developed software to modernize the Polish evaluation and pay process. Now, years later, Daniel has felt God's leading to write this book and to offer for use an updated version of the software they used in Poland. The Wood-Mizer Way -- The Story is not just describing a pivotal time in Daniel's family company as they expanded into a new continent and a different way of doing business, but it is more about the lessons learned in embracing others of a different culture and finding Christ in the most unexpected ways in the workplace. Our hope is that others with cross-cultural challenges and those who have resolved to live out their core beliefs in their own company will be inspired and assisted by the author's experience. As Daniel expressively states, this is "ultimately a story about culture change and how to put legs under the idea of 'more of Christ in the workplace.'" .
This book is a personal testimony of the many challenges I have faced in my life. For years, I have allowed past hurts, failures, poor decision-making, and low self-esteem to hold me in bondage, depriving me of enjoying the full benefits of a life with Jesus Christ. I forced portions of my past to the back of my mind and vowed that I would never discuss those things. Several of the experiences tormented me causing me to act out in ways that are unseemly for a "lady." However, I dealt with them the best way I knew how. Fortunately, through God's guidance, I realized it was time to face up to and expose those things that have held me in bondage and stagnated my growth so that I can walk freely into my destiny and live the abundant life He has reserved for me. While in the busy London Victoria train station one day, author Brigette Neita-Bailey heard an announcement over the tannoy, urgently seeking the presence of a doctor to help attend to an emergency that had arisen on platform 2. Brigette watched as a man stopped in his tracks, listened to the announcement, and then swiftly headed to platform 2 to provide aid. It was very clear from his response that he was a doctor because he responded to the call for one. In the same way, as Christians, the time is here for us to respond to our own call. But what does that look like? The Call by Brigette Neita-Bailey is an inspiring book which takes a look at what it means to answer the call of God on our lives. It gives hope, encouragement, empowerment, and inspiration to affirm believers in their faith walk, using the revelation of Jesus Christ and the Word of God. Brigette discusses how sometimes, the call of God may interrupt our own plans and come at what seems like an inconvenient time. When we are obedient and follow the lead of the Holy Spirit, then God will be able to use us to impact people and exalt His name. Full of relevant Bible verses and insightful commentary, The Call addresses different themes and challenges in life, such as loneliness and identity issues, while pointing the reader to the One who provides direction and guidance in all of life's storms. With a toolkit to help support readers who answer the call of God on their lives, The Call is an important resource for those who are ready to leave the sidelines and fully engage in God's plan for their journey.
God's love is not just on the surface of our lives. His love goes into the depths of our soul. Our lives are to be deeply bound in Jesus Christ, our Savior. This book is intended to teach how to scratch the surface and seek God's love. To show how a life found in Christ is bound in Christ. It is intended to show you how to dig deeper into God's Word, how to live and breathe His love. My hope is that you will find a true and loving God and not only self. God is there; sometimes you have to find Him. What we usually see is an image of our sinful selves. But when we seek and find more of Jesus, we see Him shining through as love; wiping away all sin so the surface glows and gleams like freshly washed windows. Look inside and see who is looking out at you. The surface is only the beginning of digging deeper, scratch and see what lies beneath. What does it mean to be godly? Why does it matter? A range of excellent statements exists if one is searching for definitions and descriptions. Moving beyond comments regarding being godly, is this characteristic recognizable to self and others beyond ambiguity? The author's introspection on this topic led to the proposition that being godly comes with a practical dimension that is useful in interpersonal exchanges and it not only survives but even thrives in adverse environments and relationships. Because society runs on the interactions between people, and connections are the bedrock of either harmony or disharmony, the author, in this book, discusses the centrality of love in human relationships and advances the idea that God, who is the source of genuine love, is within reach of all to share His marvelous love with the people of this world. Why is this familiar story relevant today? Durable love, which is of divine origin, remains the singular, most valuable resource for the sustainability of productive and supportive relationships, which form the process matter of what humans aim to accomplish through varied interactions. It follows that reminding people about the abundant supply of God's inexhaustible love epitomizes the notion of knowledge as power. Graham F. Watts, Sr. is a reflective, contemplative, and future-oriented person. He enjoys quiet time, research, and community services to the disenfranchised and neglected members of society. His primary interest is human liberation. Core values that undergird Graham's thinking and decision-making include justice, empowerment, love, participation, equity, and truth. None of these values has currency unless expressed in practical ways that yield benefits in interpersonal relationships. Therefore, Graham views life as an on-going opportunity for continuous growth and improvement of the inner-being. Robust participation in this intrapersonal change process is a prerequisite for contributing to wholesome societal change.
Barbara (Bobbie), aka "Grammy" Bridges felt this would be a story to help kids understand some of the joys and sorrows of life from a Christian standpoint. "I wanted them to remember with joy some of the ways they had been blessed by their older loved ones." "Grampy" (Keith Bridges) died in 2012, leaving lots of grandkids and great grandkids that share some good memories. She said each of their grandkids and great grandkids is sure "he" or "she" is their favorite! Barbara lives on a lake in Northern California and enjoys feeding, loving, playing, and reading with all of them.
The persistence of polygyny in many countries such as Senegal, United Arab Emirates requires an explanation (Al-Krenawi, Graham & Al-Krenawi, 1997). Previous research focused on the effects on different family members, but more specially the effects on children and adolescents, to be detrimental(Al-Sharfi Pfeffer & Miller, 2015).Polygyny as a complex family system has however, been little explored in relation to its effects on the child's later adult relationship quality. The purpose of this study therefore, was to explore the experiences of African Diasporas who were brought up in polygynous households, and how this may have affected their ability to develop adult relationships. Three adults of African descent took part in the study, and were recruited through purposive volunteer sampling. A qualitative design using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), to investigate participant's personal narratives was implemented, so that the meaning of growing up in a polygynous household had for them could be explored. A semi structured interview was designed to explore the participants' relationships with their fathers, mothers, fathers' other wives, and the other children in the family. How they feel the experience of growing up in a polygynous household has affected their adult relationships was also explored. Four super ordinate themes emerged from the data: 'patriarchal society', illustrating ruling power men have over the households in general; appearance versus reality', illustrating camouflage behaviours members of the family displayed; 'relationships', illustrating interpersonal group dynamic; and, 'distance', illustrating a distant father during childhood and the participants' tendency to become avoidant of intimate or social relationships as adults. These findings shed light on a previously unexplored topic and illustrated how polygynous households in childhood have lasting effects on individuals' social and emotional skills across the lifespan. I was inspired to write this book because I am a preacher and teacher of the word. I listen to many sermons and I read many Christian books. From my revelation it shows the Kingdom of God is divided. A Kingdom divided will not stand and I have seen the devil deceiving many believers. Believers think that if the word is preached by a seasoned pastor, it is true. They do not have time to check what the Bible says and therefore they believe wrong doctrines. The Bible has been manipulated and many lies have been taught on the pulpit to the extent that praise and worship is no longer about God, but it is now about earthly possessions. If you listen to many songs sung in churches, there is no Christ in them. This book will reveal some of the lies that we have heard from the pulpit and open people's eyes to the truth. I want people to know the truth so that they are set free and I also want people to have their eyes opened so that they are able to identify the wolves dressed in sheep's clothing when they listen to men and women of God preaching.A Believer who wants to open other believers' eyes so that they may not be exposed to the wrong doctrines that are destroying peoples' lives through lies told on the pulpit. Those who worship God must worship him in spirit and in truth and I thrive to do just that. I want to expose the lies of the devil whose messages sound good and convincing on the pulpit but in there lies deception. I desire for truth to be told for the truth will set people free.
Poetry started a period after I asked the Lord to help me become the best Christian I could be. Over time rock music and drugs fell. While that does take drive to succeed, it wouldn't have happened without Jesus. My fear was losing what I gained with Christ. I started writing in case I ever slid backwards I would have a memory to reflect on. When other people read the poetry, they liked them. I like their feedback and influence. The poetry that was by me, for me, became 4 us all.I had a rough childhood in a secular household. I didn't believe in a god. Later, God intentionally and personally made me a believer. I started reading the Bible and going to Church. In 2008 I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. In 2009 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Before the diagnosis I went blind in a two-week period. Then to the hospital, got the right medication, and I could see within a couple months. While losing an ability would be terrifying, God was with me. Now, I can truly see.
Of her own memories, novelist Ellen Hopkins states, "Now that I have opened that bottle of memories they're pouring out like wine, crimson and bitter sweet." So it is with Vashti Ataya's "MEMORIES, Chronicles of a Grateful Life." As a military dependent, Vashti's formative years were shaped in rural Oklahoma, Germany, and Panama, places and spaces of extraordinary memories. Her "bottle of memories" from early childhood to young adulthood slakes one's nostalgia for a more innocent time as vintage wine satiates one's palate for a choice, carefully selected beverage. Memories bittersweet, poignant, inspiring, and hilarious fill Vashti's decanter. Pop the cork, twist the lid, remove the cap, open the book, savor the stories, and enjoy memoirs of a life well lived, these Chronicles of a Grateful Life. La fidelidad al mensaje de Jesucristo nuestro Señor ha sido central para aquellos que creemos en él. Si bien esa intensión no cambia.
This book is an adventure in getting to know the Word, which is Christ Jesus. The trip begins in Genesis chapter one. Moving through our walking away from the position of authority and dominion over this world which God gave us, and giving this dominion to Satan. We immediately observe the expressed great desire of God for our restoration to sonship, and the huge price God was willing to pay to accomplish this feat. In creating this path to sonship we see the great LOVE which drove The Father and Jesus to pay all to grant us this position again. The actions taken reveal the true nature of both Jesus and our dear Father God.Our very lives reveal this love nature in Marriage, Grace, the Law, and the mighty power of God's Word. We see also, the mighty power of this Word, carrying His power as enacted through us as we speak these words in faith, binding Satan, and releasing healing and saving power, changing our circumstances to be as He wills. The sovereignty of our God is acted out through us, as Christ's body on earth. This we see clearly as we walk the pages of His Word. John has been a Bible teacher since his teens. A desire to see others grow in their understanding and practice of the Word has been the focus of his studies. During his early ministry he traveled and spoke for the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship and served as a volunteer youth pastor for a large Toronto church. The desire for in depth study of the Word led him to participate in distance study, achieving an associate degree in theology, before cancer interrupted his study. God's healing power renewed the desire to teach again, hence this first book.
This work is divided into two formats; essays, and biblical expositions, and set in three major sections. The first section is composed of essays based on faith-related topics; some that stem from biblical texts; others that were born out of life experiences that were guided in faith. The second section is devoted to expositions from various passages, and is arranged in chronological order as they appear in the biblical canon. The third section comprises both essays and expositions; all based on Christian and national holidays, and special celebrations set in keeping with the calendar year. The inspiration for these writings; though largely biblical at their core, were inspired by real-life thoughts and events that happened on the farm, the streets of the inner-city, in courthouses, and counseling sessions where the author perceived God at work in the lives of people who were searching for a faith that works for them. The author has attempted to present the book to as diverse an audience as possible; from those with little or no Christian experience or biblical background, to others who are serious students of the Bible and Christian Theology. "Journeys in the Christian Experience...... a biblical approach to life and faith" serves as a tool that will aid the reader in responding to God's message, and undergird existing faith with a perception of life that binds the two together. Everybody has a story. We each make the choice of whether to tell our story or not. I'm telling my story because it glorifies God. Every human being will do things in their lifetime of which they will be proud. Likewise, every human being will do things in their lifetime of which they will be ashamed. The good news is that God is available for you through it all. In this life, you will experience moments of great joy and also moments where you will feel beaten down. You will become bruised by the consequences of the poor decisions you have made. But if Jesus is your Savior and Lord, He will not allow you to be unduly broken. Don't waste time living in regret over the bad decisions you have made. Rather, quickly learn from them and move on. The time God gives us is precious. If you are reading these words, it means that you've survived. Congratulations! I too have survived and I invite you to read about my journey through the ups and downs of life. I have been bruised but my resolve to serve the God who created me remains unbroken! Katrina Harling was born and raised in Washington, DC. Twelve years ago, I was going through a very difficult season and I found myself seeking God more than ever! I took a six-week class called "The Gifts of the Spirit" at a local church. On the last day of the class, the pastor called my name and told me to come to the front of the class; I didn't even know that he knew my name! He told me, "You are going to bless a lot of people with the words that come out of your mouth and the words that you write!" Four years later, I began a compilation of daily words that God had given to me as a result of surrendering my will to His will for my life."On This Day...Notes from Above" contains daily notes of wisdom, affirmation, and encouragement that God has given to me based on the growth and development of my life and built on a firm foundation of the Word of God.This is a 'must read book'! It will inspire you and be used as a bridge to cross over and connect with the destiny that God has planned for your life! Linda Beverett is a native of New Jersey. Every day, we all fight the same fight--the fight of following the direction of God or the plans of man. We are often led to believe that the need to be successful should be our priority, but chasing earthly vanity only leads to an endless cycle of heartbreak. In the midst of it all, God is waiting for us to turn to Him. While the idea of seeking God may seem frightening, when you finally run to His open arms, you will find that He is eager to save you, redeem you, and completely take care of you--offering you all that you have been striving for. This book is a necessary work to liberate people from the bondage of erroneous beliefs about friendships. It will exploit the false expectations we so readily impose on our friends so that we will all refrain from unrealistic presuppositions. This work will further provide the Biblical apologetic for God's design for friendships in order to eradicate Satan's destructive vices in these relationships. Only then can we more easily recognize that any friendship not framed by God's design and purpose is dangerous and toxic. Lastly, it will allow us to examine the many facets of Godly friendships with the hope of ultimately understanding the truth that one of the greatest sources of spiritual strength in the believer's life is found in wholesome Christian friendships. For your further edification, I have included discussion questions at the end of each chapter. I encourage you to engage them privately and in group study. There is an epidemic of divorce within the African diaspora in the West. Throughout the community, it is not uncommon to find entire groups of people where divorce has touched every member present, some more than once. The effects of this epidemic are far-reaching and devastating, causing many pathological conditions and in some cases, even leading to death. Divorce in this community has now moved from primarily a social and religious issue to become a serious public health issue. The question is, where did this come from, and what can be done? How can this epidemic be stopped and the tide turned for future generations? The End of Marriage by Adrien Ngudiankama is a pastoral ethnography developed over two decades as a pastor and social scientist working with the African and African Caribbean populations in France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Containing sobering statistics, insightful case studies, and informed reflections, the book draws analyses from theology, sociology, anthropology, health promotion, and public health in order to address the question of what has caused the epidemic of divorce in these communities and how the problem can be solved. With both academic and spiritual implications, this book is an important resource for those dealing with social issues related to the African and African Caribbean immigrant/refugee communities. Yet, with Adrien's experience in both the academic and religious realms, it acts as an important pedagogic manual to be used by both individuals and institutions, and readers will walk away with a holistic understanding of this situation occurring today.
There is really no definitive road map for doing ministry. I do not consider myself a religious person. After my husband passed away, my world as I had known it changed. Dealing with death has never been easy for me, be it a family member or friend. A love one dies, the end. Some will have you believe that, I don't. I have experienced wonders that have only improved my world. Some will say it's not possible, I smile because I know different. I have written this journal to let others know that in fact, it is not the end. If you believe and have faith anything is possible. I do not claim to understand what is happening and maybe never will but that is the wonder of it all. I thought at some point things would stop, but to my surprise they continue and I am very grateful that they do. So, ask yourself why do some use the phrase "cross-over"? Cross-over to what, another dimension, taking on another form? My husband and the angels continue to be my unseen partners, and I am having the adventure of a lifetime. Lynne Minyard-Christer lives in Arizona with her three cats. She has been many things to many people: wife, mother, friend, grocery checker, secretary, bookkeeper, divorced, retired, author and caregiver. There have been tears of joy and tears of sadness along the way--life's many adventures to deal with. Some friendships were short-lived, and a few carried through the years. She is always believing there is a story to tell. She is the author of a short little tale called Tige's Big Adventures. Tige was "our" little guy. Now she wonders what life has to offer and what adventures are in her future.
