Raising a Pointer Dog

It is common knowledge that Pointer dogs can sniff out and "point" birds and other small game for their human masters. Pointers are easily recognizable by their sharp sense of smell and their characteristic behavior of halting and standing rigidly, with the dog's nose pointing in the direction of the game it has detected. This action allows hunters to locate their prey with greater accuracy.
The English Pointer and the German shorthaired pointer are only two examples of the many Pointer breeds.
