About Search for Plants against Diabesity

Diabesity is an expanding epidemic of the 21st century, against which no universally acceptable and affordable therapies are now available. Results of a comparative study suggesting therapeutic potentials of Hypericum perforatum, Picrorhiza kurroa and Quassia amara for combating diverse pathologies associated with this epidemic are described in this book. These observations not only reveal novel therapeutic potentials of the three herbs, but also reconfirm our conviction that by the medicinal phytochemistry based strategy used to design the study is economically a more feasible one for identifying herbs potentially useful for combating diabesity and other non communicable diseases with diverse spectrums of comorbidities. This book should help researchers to develop alternative herbal research strategies, and should be especially useful to professionals, scientists, research scholars and teachers in the field of pharmaceutical research, or anyone else who may be considering utilizing reverse pharmacology as a strategy for herbal drug research.
