This book focuses on the work of Miriam Toews, which gives voice to generations of Mennonite women who have been silenced as part of the official Mennonite story. Rita Dirks argues that through exposing the violence Mennonite women experience from within their own communities, Toews problematizes the Mennonite tradition of proclaimed pacifism.
