Ed spends his days caring for Westra's war hawks, but he dreams of being one of the knights that fly them into battle. Unfortunately, poor apprentices only become knights in stories.
But when pirates raid his home town only Ed can stop them before they escape with their treasure, an important hostage.
With the threat of capture or failure looming, will Ed risk everything to save the day?
