Sojourn to the unknown

A woman walked along, dying, bleeding, carrying a female child through the dense forest.
She made her way to an estate entrance to place her child on the doorstep and give her a chance to live.

The Lady of the house was in labor, and the midwife was sent for.
Lord Thomas worried about the door where his wife was struggling. Their child was stillborn.

As if on cue a steward brought a tiny baby to them, found on the doorstep with a note and locket.
They named her according to the note and kept the secret, even from the child.
