Somewhere Else

Somewhere ElseBy Roxanne Ward
About Somewhere Else

Young Connor was born into a post-apocalyptic world weakened by bad decisions and demolished by a seven-day meteorite strike. It wreaked havoc over the entire world, and the residual effects included illnesses from the dust and starvation that lasted for over a decade killing billions. In the United States, owners of mega-rich companies that endured the destruction acquired large territories around once-thriving cities. The oligarchs separated the residents into a caste system with brutal enforcers and oppressive laws. Connor lives with his grandad, his parents, and his little sister, as workers on the bottom rung. Connor is emotionally caught up in his grandad's forbidden stories of the past and his mysterious purpose in it. He dreams of his fantastical world honoring freedom and justice, and he clings to his grandad's obsession it can return. When his grandad dies, Connor is left heartbroken and alone. He breaks into his grandad's locked room to be close to him once more. While going through his belongings, he discovers his grandad had dark and dangerous secrets that could send them all to prison or worse. As if he doesn't have enough worries, his parents begin to act strangely keeping secrets of their own, and doing things that put the family in grave danger. Connor must protect his grandad's secrets and search for answers which only pile up more mysteries to untangle.
