ABOUT THE AUTHOR John C Mannone has poems in North Dakota Quarterly, Pine Mountain Sand & Gravel, Artemis Journal, Red Branch Review, Poetry South, Baltimore Review, Pedestal, New England Journal of Medicine, and many others. He won the Impressions of Appalachia Creative Arts Contest in poetry (2020), the Joy Margrave Award for creative nonfiction (2015 and 2017), and the Carol Oen Memorial Fiction Prize (2020). He was awarded a Jean Ritchie Fellowship (2017) in Appalachian literature and served as the celebrity judge for the National Federation of State Poetry Societies (2018). He is the author of three chapbooks and several full-length collections, Disabled Monsters (2015) and Flux Lines (2022) with Linnet's Wings Press and Sacred Flute forthcoming (2023) from Iris Press. He edits poetry for Abyss & Apex and other journals.
