In 1820, Roger Southland won the Dooley Plantation in a historic poker game. As a result of the loss, the former owner, Barney Dooley committed a heinous crime for reasons unknown to everyone. His crime would echo across the centuries.

When Bruce Coffee Southland inherits his father's winnings, Dooley's crimes haunt his family and another heartbreaking tragedy ensues. This tragedy is even more shocking than the first. Were these crimes inspired by angry spirits or merely the work of evil men?
