Spirits of the Flame, a Messenger series novel, is one of the most important works Speaking Wind left behind. As Cheeway nears death, he and Speaking Wind are visited by Calling Thunder, a Spirit Caller. While the messages they receive are not from Calling Thunder, they are through him. They learn when you place yourself first in all things you do and say, most people will believe you to be selfish and unfair to others.
