Subterranea

Fourteen-year-old Annah lives in an orphanage. One morning while digging through a toy box she is pulled into a terrifying subterranean world inhabited by trolls. Eelin, misfit Prince of the trolls, is commanded by his father to kill the girl. But, unlike his father who hates humans, he cannot kill this intriguing human whose hair is the color of the sunset he will never see. At the risk of losing his life, Eelin disobeys his father and vows to get Annah to safety. Annah is at first terrified of Eelin and unhappy in the bleak prison of endless tunnels.
