Taiwan Dog

Native to Taiwan, the breed known as the "Taiwan dog" is also known as the "Formosan Mountain Dog" and the "Formosan Aboriginal Dog." Since these canines have developed in their natural habitat rather than through human selection, we call them a landrace breed.
- Taiwan dogs are noted for their adaptability, intelligence, and loyalty. Because of the wide range of possible physical traits, they can range in everything from size to coat type to color. Indigenous people in Taiwan have traditionally employed them as hunting and guard dogs, as well as general-purpose working dogs.
- Protection and promotion of the Taiwan dog as a national asset and education about the breed's special characteristics have been priorities in recent years. Some groups and breed aficionados actively seek out permanent homes for these dogs, which helps to ensure that their genetic diversity is maintained.
