Having crossed the great bridge, Jack, Thug, Kshea, Doug, and several members of the Rider's Truck Clan, travel south to the semi-mythical Great City of Detroit, also known as the Dark City due to the heavy population it produces. Along the road, they see more evidence of Black Priests and their Dark Kin servants roaming the Green; they being responsible for the destruction of the village of Traverse in the name of the Golden Lord and the other Great Old Ones.Jack, still suffering from the death of his wife, is desperate to find a way through the Green, and thinks the city of Detroit holds the key to reach Etam.Meanwhile, a survivor of the Etam resistance, Ara, finds refuse in a land called Haven, home to the surviving Amish population. There, she finds refuge and discovers something that may turn her paradise into a prison.
