Ten was just a kid when the world caught fire.
He doesn't know why the metal burned to ash, or how many others survived like he did, or why the animals get so much smarter every year. All he knows is what he sees in his forest, what he reads in his library, and what he's told by the raiders who invaded his home.
But when he meets a woman whose people are at war with the dogs he loves, Ten has to figure out where he wants to be-with the last of the humans, with whatever it is the animals are becoming, or alone on the knife edge between two worlds.
