Terror!

- The Horror Comics Genius of Joan Boix Softcover edition

About Terror!

In 1975, Spanish comic book artist Joan Boix, after many years working for other art studios like Bardon Art and Creaciones Editoriales on Romance Comics, took a leap forward and began creating his own horror and suspense stories for DOSSIER NEGRO, TERROR GRAFICO, and PANIC. Leveraging his graphic intensity, artistic maturity and independence, Boix created originals and adaptions of classic horror gaining a reputation as a "master of the brush and pen." Boix's horror work gained momentum and began appearing in some of the famous magazines published by Josep Toutain including CREEPY, RAMBLA, and METROPOL. Pulp 2.0 is proud to collect and publish these seminal works of horror and suspense in English for the first time, and introduce Joan Boix to a wider audience who may have seen his work elsewhere, but didn't know the pulpy genius behind it. Within these pages are the lurid tales that led to the creation of Boix's internationally renowned, award-winning dramatic series ROBNY THE VAGABOND, JONATHAN STRUPPY, and his comic work with Swedish publisher Semic on THE PHANTOM. Included in this volume are adaptations and interpretations of works by Edgar Allan Poe, H. P. Lovecraft, Franz Kafka, and Robert Bloch - each one a visual feast for horror comics fans. If you are a fan of Paul Naschy monster movies, Hammer Horror, or those short stories with a vicious twist, all rendered in stark black & white, then you are going to love TERROR! THE HORROR COMICS GENIUS OF JOAN BOIX. Featuring: - an introduction by noted Spanish comic book author, artist, and historian JUAN A. ROS MIGUEL. - Twenty tales of terror translated into English with re-mastered artwork for the best reading experience.
