Paul D Veverka is a local Blantyre businessman with an active widespread interest in all aspects of History & Community life in the South Lanarkshire town.Born in 1971, Paul is the eldest of four children of Josef and Janet Veverka (both dec) from whom he inherited his growing interest in the history of Blantyre.Chairperson of Blantyre Community Committee and employed in the Construction Industry, "The Blantyre Project" is his first outing as an author.Paul writes, "Blantyre is evolving so fast these days. Local people are often generally indifferent to previous historical infrastructure, architectural changes, old news and tales of Blantyre from days gone by. It's only human to be caught up in our current lives. The Blantyre Project aims to collate some deeper history, some of the folklore, fun and passed down tales. This includes old archived photos for anybody, of any age who is interested in how this wonderful town came to be. It's especially hoped 'The Blantyre Project' will be a lasting interesting legacy for local children and future generations to learn just how different Blantyre was during years gone by and how easy we really have it today" - Paul Veverka, June 2013
