During 1966 the beat slowed to the unhurried harmonious rock steady rhythm before entering a transitional phase to reggae in 1968. The influence of rock steady on reggae should never be underestimated but it is sometimes a forgotten era spanning less than two years as it did flanked between ska and reggae.
