Written as a novel but informed by decades of personally collected data, The Christian Kid Turned Non-Christian follows Carl as he explores the reasons for his dissatisfaction with Christianity, ultimately arriving at a direct, certain, and, finally, authentic relationship with God.
Author Wilson Awasu has been a missionary and staff member for Christian-based organizations in the United States, the United Kingdom, Poland, Hungary, Ghana, and Nigeria for twenty years. In this capacity, Awasu has talked extensively with children and their parents about faith.
From this, Awasu crafted The Christian Kid Turned Non-Christian, which offers the disillusioned Christian a chance to analyze their defection from the Church in its historical context—from family background to the present. The process allows them to understand—perhaps for the first time—what turned them off Christianity. Was it the inauthentic posing as the authentic? Or the demands of the built-in reality checks in the authentic? The Christian Kid Turned Non-Christian also offers readers a chance to look the authentic in the eye and either accept or reject it.
