part of the The Folk of the Air series
Jude Duarte is my spirit animal! She is also a human who has spent most of her childhood in fairylands.
And she is angry because she is human.
She is not angry about being born a human, even tho she does adores the beauty and power fairies poses, she is angry because she has to be because she is human and that is the only way she sees herself surviving this part of the fairy world.
A lot of people advertise this book as a YA fantasy enemies to lovers romance, and it is not. This is a YA story about a strong-willed human girl who tries to survive and build a life for herself in a world of fairies, who see humans only as servants or prey. She is also a sister, a daughter, and she might become so much more.
I absolutely loved this book. If you have read Hazel Wood, The Darkest Part of the Forest or Graceling and liked those stories, I think you will enjoy this one too!
About the characters:
Not everyone will love Jude. I did because I loved her way of surviving the world she is in, the life she has. I loved and understood her. The feelings she had felt real, the decisions she made - I would have made in her place.
Madoc is a very interesting person. His relationship whit Jude is difficult, but interesting. I hope we get to explore it more in the next book.
Taryn I hated. I think she was written for people like me to hate, but o man! She is one of those people who think that to love someone is a good goal in life. And the worst are the things she does to do so. I still am angry at her.
Locke - please, tell me there is a scene in the next book where she punches him in the face?
I liked the story elements of Cardan we got in this first book in the series, but even tho this book is called Cruel Price, we don't really get to know him in this first instalment.
