Their discovery led to dealing with one of the Ordinus heads, Verus Mavenhart. Just days after the incident, Kate, Van, and Alastor discovered the existence of an ancient vampire named Marcus Mavenhart. The vampire held Jane captive. Upon offering them a deal, Kate accepted it. However, they didn't know they were walking into a world of pain. The two Mavenhart brothers faced an incoming conflict that neither party could ever anticipate.
