The Filth of Sin

Sinful humanity lives in ungodliness and unrighteousness. We are ungodly because, no matter how hard we try or the lies we believed in the Garden of Eden, we are not like God - at all! Surely, man was created in the image of God but that image has been broken, shattered into a million pieces because of sin. Sinners do nothing out of altruistic motives because there is nothing good within our flesh or inner man. If we stumble into doing something good, it is only because of a fragmented glimpse of God's goodness that has broken through to work in the midst of our sinfulness. Our ungodliness, our inability to faithfully bear God's image, produces in us unrighteousness.
In dealing with the subject of the filth of sin and what is theologically called total depravity, I will weave in several places from the Bible to make my point. However, my main text will be Judges 3:12-25. I encourage you to read the Word of God in junction with this book. The Word of God is always the final authority above anything I've written in this book.
