The Italian Diplomas

The Italian Diplomas is a collection of three documents from the reign of the Emperor Charlemagne that deal with churches in the former Lombard kingdom, their preservation and protection under the law. These documents are also co-signed by the local patriarch, granting them the weight of both civil and ecclesiastical authority.
