The Life Of An Addict

About The Life Of An Addict

Imagine talking on the phone with a friend. Then, imagine the surprise and the tears that come to your eyes when your friend begins to share his, or her, innermost feelings and darkest secrets. Imagine sitting with friends and talking about the Bible. Imagine listening to these friends quote Scripture and tell you about their favorite Bible verses. Then, imagine that these friends are not your normal churchgoers. These are not only "friends", but they're also fiends. These are normal people, attempting to live their everyday life as drug fiends. Sadly, some of my friends have left us because of their addictions. But they are now in a better place. Others continue to fight, struggle, and share their fears. As I listen, intently, continuing to wipe my face and dry my tears ~ I begin to reflect upon their stories. Using poetic language to help me convey the things they want to say, I tell myself that this will make it easier for people to hear, read, and understand. Some people have a need for things to be made simpler. But there is nothing simple about these ten stories.
