The story of the Prodigal (meaning wasteful) Son is probably one of the most powerful and moving stories ever told, and it's one we can all relate to.The original story is found in the Bible and could be both a true story as well as an allegory. Jesus artfully crafts the tale to show that God has a heart of compassion for the rebellious and selfish child, and that God longs to restore that relationship with one who returns in repentance and humility. But God also has a deep heart of love for the child who stays close to home and family, and occasionally needs reminding of Jesus's profound love for them too.
