Adrift at sea in a small boat, the young orphan Hatteras is rescued by the crew of the Cynthia, a whaling vessel. Despite the rough and dangerous life on board, Hatteras thrives and becomes an indispensable member of the crew. But when a mutiny breaks out, he finds himself in grave danger once again.
