The Women of the Bible

- The Virgin Mary

About The Women of the Bible

This edition of the collection entitled: "The Women of the Bible", presents the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a young Jewish daughter of Jehoiachin and Anna, both descendants of King David. Certainly, Mary's mission was written in the sacred book of the Creator, our holy Father. Starting with Anna, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who showed signs of sterility during her marriage to Joachim. Anne had been married for many years, and had not conceived a child. Joachim and Anna were wealthy and kind, but without successors, which saddened them greatly. Anne's infertility was undermining their married life. One day, Hannah decided to offer a promise to the Lord, which consisted of the following: if the Lord would grant her the grace to conceive a male child, she would take him to the Temple in Jerusalem to serve Him. Jehoiachin withdrew to the mountain, and there he spent 40 days and 40 nights fasting and praying, begging the Lord to give him a son. An angel appeared to Joachim and Anna simultaneously. He told them that their pleas had been heard, and they would conceive a son.
