About Through the Eyes of a Black Man's Pen

Through the Eyes of a Black Man’s Pen is a book of poetry about the ups and downs, U-turns, and turnarounds of life, the difficulties in love and relationships, the consequences of the bad choices we make, and finding the spirit of God that gets us through it all. There are three things in life – that if they are less than 100 percent – don’t exist. Namely trust, love, and truth. Remember that 99.99 percent of the truth is still a lie, because the truth only exists if it’s 100 percent true. The easiest part of living is to die in the grace of God, and as long as you have Him, being alone is impossible. Born in Chicago and raised in the toughest part of Memphis, Tennessee (Orange Mound community), Stevie Cannon now lives in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is a long-time musician who made plenty of mistakes in his life and overcame them all. “I’d like to dedicate this book to my 91-year-old mother, Ophelia Cannon Saunders, who taught me to always do the right thing, and to my lovely wife, Niecy, for putting up with me.” This is his second book.
