Tortured for the Love of Christ Vol. XI St. Manuel of Sfakia Crete The New Martyr

Early Christians were steadfast in their faith, to the point of no return. The sufferings and hardships of the Greeks during those years of slavery under ottoman rule were continuous, many, and inconceivable. Courage, love for their one true God, and humility led them into horrific tortures. Among the new martyrs who fought during the Turkish rule to consolidate the Christian faith, demonstrating exceptional bravery and unshakable faith, is the Holy New Martyr Manuel from Sfakia, Crete, who was martyred for Christ on the island of Chios on March 15, 1792.
