Transcendent Argumentation and Rhetoric

Virtually all of academia evaluates student ability based on the ability to think critically and coherently. For this reason, more and more evaluations, both in academic and professional settings, have moved to open response questions that require students or prospective employees to provide answers in the form of a rationale. Yet, even a strong rationale is not sufficient to answer an open essay response question. In order to fulfill this task competently, a more complex and ample form of communication is needed; namely, an argument structure. Thus, mastery of the argument structure is of the utmost importance to high school and college/university students.
