There are three distinct versions of the medal: one for the Army, one for the Air Force, and one for the Navy, the Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard. Originally, the Medal of Honor was created solely for the Navy in 1861. The other military branches followed suit; the Army medal was created in 1862 and finally the Air Force in 1965. Thomas E. Creek, Rodney M. Davis, and Wesley L. Fox - were awarded the medal for their heroic actions during the Vietnam War (1955-1975).
