Voyage of Mercy

The world sends out a clear and pervasive message - strive, do well, don't fail. A performance based culture with its attendant fears and insecurities can distort our view God and sabotage our relationship with Him, ourselves and others. With at times excruciating levels of honesty and vulnerability, Peter McHugh exposes the lies that had taken hold in his own life. As he puts it:

'As I pursued answers I was lead to unexpected places. Places in my secret inner
world. Thoughts, ideas and beliefs that did not conform to God's word, to His

The book is about Peter's own journey, but his frank reflections and assessments
take the reader to a place where they may begin their own voyage of mercy.

Peter has elucidated in this manuscript issues which I believe are at the heart of Christian discipleship and leadership. They are arguably the most critical issues to be addressed currently within Western Christianity.

Peter is a university graduate with a qualification in Social Work. He was dramatically converted in 1982 at the age of 25. He along with his wife Lyn and 12 other people moved to Melbourne from Sydney to plant a church in 1990. Today Stairway Chruch Whitehorse (formerly Christian City Church Whitehorse) has a congregation in excess of 1200. Peter and Lyn have two married daughters, a son and a grandson.
