Wally the Wave's Wanderings to InclusivityBy Capt Ryan Althaus
About Wally the Wave's Wanderings to Inclusivity

In growing awareness that there is a serious lack of awareness around inclusivity in youth and more evident, in parents and teachers that are tasked to teach it, I wrote a children's book which is co-illustrated with an amazing 22-year-old nonverbal Cerebral Palsy patient (Noah Habib- the son of the ED of the special needs farm community www.commonrootsfarm.org) The project is unique in that it includes a chapter for adults that helps in their efforts to teach inclusivity, awareness, and acceptance to youth. We are working on a second book on broad-spectrum Mental Illness and another specifically on depression/anxiety. With schools out and folks on computers looking for free resources around entertainment, education, etc. I figured this would be a timely release... This resource is also part of my work for Santa Cruz County dealing with loneliness when we are restricted in our physical work with despondent populations. Here is a link to the project's landing page which includes: http: //sweatysheep.com/discover/wally-the-wave/ a free video reading with Noah and I that youth can watch at will A free video of how we co-illustrated the book using watercolor paints in overcoming Noah's lack of speech, mobility, and dexterity A free PDF of the book (click the picture) A full page review from the National Presbyterian Church Outlook Magazine
