Wasteland

Meg has spent the last twelve years of her life living in the Wasteland with a man who is not her father, but her protector. She was engineered to protect the country of Sirain from its enemies then hidden away from the very cities that sacrificed many of its own people to design her. This has always been kept a secret from Meg until an accident leaves her permanently scarred and her protector dead. Trying to begin a new life, Meg discovers there are more like her; other Antaean who've been sheltered from their creators. Forced from the Wasteland, Meg must try to locate the Antaean before Sirain's enemies do, or worse, the cities' leaders themselves.
