An undercover case gone bad had almost broken her and forced her into administrative leave, and a good psych-eval would be her only way back onto the force. That was the case until a letter from a killer addressed to her draws Detective Maxine Steele back to the job.

As a criminal profiler, she has a knack for getting into the heads of her unknow subjects, and she is good at it. This time, she's dealing with a criminal that seems to know as much about her as she's trying to find out about him. He's smart and cunning. He's sick and dominate, and he's targeted her. In her mind she sees him watching her, studying her... preparing for her.

His letters to her are taunting. As if he's trying to call her out.

The process is methodical. To beat him at his own game, she must think like him. She must do what she does best and get into his head. To beat him she must be him, draw him out and then beat him. The race is on, he's kidnapped another victim and the clock is ticking to find her before he kills again.
