Witch Queen of the Isle

Immortal mages have ruled the Nation's of Sideon peacefully for over a thousand years, ever since humankind nearly destroyed itself. Now their leader, Allamon, has decided it is time to give the mortals back their sovereignty. Maghareen however, Queen of Elreth, is not inclined to relinquish her throne so easily. Spurned and chastised by her ancient lover, Spurion of Susia, she gathers her people for war. But the Witch Queen has threats from inside her own realm to worry about.
Maghareen's own general is willing to use any means necessary, natural or dark and most unnatural, to have her for himself. Her only real advisor, the Head Matron of her palace, has an annoying habit of preventing her from burning the world to the ground with a spell. And an unassuming girl with a sharp knife has been told that the only way to save her family is to plunge her blade into the queen's back.
It's enough to drive a powerful queen to desperate measures.
