When the seedy tentacles of organized crime venture into an innocent neighbourhood, consequences are to be expected.
A rainy June evening. Three men gather for drinks and laughs. Men who guide flyfishing clients on the rivers of Southern Alberta. The quiet gathering, an excuse to wile away the down time brought on by the heavy rains of late spring. A time to relax and tie much needed flies to replenish a dwindling supply of hooks lost by fishing clients during float trips on the rivers.
Gunmen interrupt the gathering. Gunshots explode into the rain soaked night. When the smoke clears, of the three men, one man is dead, one seriously injured, and the third is left to answer the question, why?
Brand Coldstream finds himself mired in doubt and suspicion as he's faced with the lurid details in the aftermath of the bloody shoot out. The police like him as a suspect. To the bikers associated with the gunmen, he poses a threat.
In a city where the streets will soon be running red with the spilled blood of rival bike gangs, Brand is hurtled into the middle of a long simmering war. To the winner go the spoils. A large, uncontested market for the trade of illegal drugs.
Was the shooting at his house random or did the gunmen have a reason to crash the party. Brand believes it was all a horrible mistake, but are his friends really who he believes them to be?
Who can he trust when both the law and the lawless are thought to be one and the same and both sides are hunting for him. Short of options, Brand reluctantly turns for help from a shadowy figure he left long in his past.
How far can grit and determination drive a man and at what point does retribution for the shooting of his friends sway his decisions. How does one balance chasing the unknown and seeking revenge for your friends when you're fighting for your life.
