Free of The Organization, Michael Nelson becomes James Collins and settles into the idyllic town of Durango, Colorado. Although Durango appears to be a peaceful community, life moves along, and sometimes life calls for the special skills he possesses, bringing him back to the world he thought he had left behind.

His quiet existence as a bookstore owner is shattered by his being found, necessitating another move - this time to the hectic world of Las Vegas, where a new name and a new life lead to adventure, intrigue, and love. He plunges headlong into confrontations with the worst the neon sin city has to offer, some of them appreciate him, others fear him, and still others want him gone - permanently.
