About Billy B. Good's Fun Facts and Trivia Snacks

A word from Billy B. Good: I''m not a fan of trivia books that simply print hundreds (or thousands) of one-line facts, like: The deepest spot on the ocean floor is known as Challenger Deep, which is 36,307 feet below the ocean''s surface. YAWN. But suppose I told you this: The first people to attempt to measure this giant hole in the ocean, back in 1875, used a weighted rope that stretched down more than 26,000 feet. What? Who has a rope that''s FIVE MILES LONG? See, that''s much more interesting. So you will not get bland, one-line pieces of data with my books. I''d pass out from boredom putting them together, and I can only imagine how mind-numbing they are to read. I like the quick stories that go with the stuff labeled ''trivia.'' Gives them substance. Provides some depth and texture. And just makes them more interesting. This book won''t be for everyone. You may prefer endless lines of stats. Power to you. Lots of people enjoy those, and there are thousands to choose from. But if you enjoy a bit more, then look at it this way: Those books are just French fries; this book is an order of fries with multiple dipping sauces. (Maybe even a chocolate shake.) In this volume you''ll discover: The longest red light in the worldAn inmate who mailed himself to freedomThe person who survived the longest elevator plunge And plenty more. Enjoy! And be sure to look for the other books in the series. Billy B. Good
