After their meeting, Mathias enlists Dalen to help him retrieve a powerful artifact known as the Beads of Fire, which connects its wearer to the Fire Jinn, a free-willed divine being that can grant the wish of whoever possesses them.
Once Dalen awakens the Fire Jinn, she grants his wish to learn magic and takes him to an enchanted world to teach him the Elements of Reality, where he will have to know the truth about magic and power. Of course, it turns out that making wishes can be a rather tricky endeavor, and he quickly discovers that there are two sides to every coin.
