What do you do when you meet a fabled rider of the Apocalypse?

In my case, nurse him back to health, and hope like hell I can outrun him. Yet the whole outrunning him plan is proving to be more difficult than expected.
Especially when the good and honorable men in the city I'm hiding in decide the only way to save themselves is to give the rider a tribute. It seems I'm to be the unlucky sacrificial lamb they selected.

But why would I expect anything less since my life has never been easy? It's been one trial after another, yet they served a purpose. It's only because of these lessons I have the strength to stand rather than cower. Even when the one I face is the rider sent to determine our worth.

As his decision becomes clear, humanity will fall. I do something no sane person would… I proposition the rider. He promises to leave us in peace if I can prove our worth. The longer we travel together, it becomes increasingly difficult to deny my growing attraction, and a new fear begins. Is it possible I have met the only being who will accomplish what none of the others have ever managed to do….
