About Devil's Chord
Successful rock musician, Jack Herman longs to be a respected film composer. But even after winning the Grammy for Best Composition, fellow film composers continue to reject him. His bandmates and fans pressure him to produce more rock music. Overwhelmed, Jack finds solace in his "jazz room" filled with antiques and 1930s jazz records. He wishes for the simpler times of a bygone era. However, when he wakes up to find himself in 1938 Harlem, he learns firsthand the period is more complicated than he realized. A white, Jewish man with red hair, Jack stands out in the predominantly black neighborhood. Can he navigate the growing tensions of the era? Will he ever return to 1992? While struggling with these questions, Jack starts over as a street musician, eventually earning a spot playing beside jazz legends at the famous Cotton Club. There he is drawn to Rebecca, a charming stage manager with secrets of her own. For readers of Love and Gravity and The Time Traveller's Wife, or anyone who watched 'Yesterday', or 'About Time', Devil's Chord will take you from LA to Harlem on an unforgettable journey. Where two people forge a connection that transcends time, but if Jack returns to the future will Rebecca become part of his past?
