War and pestilence come to the occupants of Vaeland. Their protectors, the druids, have fallen, and Vaeland lies open to ravaging armies of foreign invaders.Talmere, one of the Vaelandic guardians who survived the invasion, remains battered but still alive. With the druids gone, the old runes that once protected the land against the creatures of the night have lost their power. With spear and runes, Talmere stalks through mist-blanketed valleys and forests of dark pools and living trees, hunting men and monsters.Sometimes, the two are much the same.
