Goethe and Mendelssohn, 1821-1831

A notable book in European nineteenth-century intellectual history, this was an account of the relationship between the young Mendelssohn and the aged Goethe, supported by a collection of nearly 40 Mendelssohn letters providing a first-hand account of that relationship as well as other aspects of the composer's life and interests.
