This study has highlighted the factors affecting female employment in the service sector. It is observed that work-life balance has a direct and positive impact on the perceived performance, which in turn affects the retention/staying intentions of female employees. Better performance and retention at the workplace will enable working women to have better earnings and thereby improve their standard of living. This study focuses on the issues pertaining to work-life balance and job satisfaction of women working in Information technology, Retail, Education, Banking and Insurance Industries (Service sector). The study is limited to the Western suburban region of Mumbai. The respondents covered in this study are 517. The multiple regression technique is used to predict the job satisfaction model. Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling were used to analyze the data to develop and validate the work-life balance and standard of living model. The study has highlighted the problems of female employees working in the Information technology, Retail, Education, Banking and Insurance Industries and has given suggestions based on the analysis of the data.
