Krasnoludek

Krasnoludek: a gnome tale is a children's picture book about a typical day of a gnome at home in the forest. It is a "quiet" book about the magic and beauty of the woods, with delightful illustrations done in watercolor. Written in gentle rhythms, it's a wonderful book for naptime or bedtime. Many caregivers are also interested in introducing new sounds to their little readers. This book introduces simple Polish words with phonetic pronunciations. The first introduced word is "krasnoludek" [krahss-no-LOO-deck], which means gnome in Polish. Krasnoludek: a gnome tale is also a love letter to the woods and the winter season. Matilda Szydagis was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago to Polish immigrant parents. Her work includes three award-winning short horror films, one-act plays, essays, short stories, and a book inspired by her family's immigrant experience.
