My Father as I Recall Him

This loving account of Charles Dickens (1812-70) as a father, written by his favourite daughter Mamie, was published shortly after her own death in 1896. It gives an idyllic - perhaps too idyllic - account of daily life with the great novelist, both before and after his separation from his wife.
