Of Mermaids and Others

This is a critical introduction to the poetry of Irish language writer Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill, exploring issues of translating and contextualising her work, her revisions of Irish myth, folklore and political and religious iconography, her re-imagining of the mother figure, and the devices of death, silence and psychoanalytic discourse in her poems.
