Parallel

- The Alex Cave Series Book 7

About Parallel

Tsunamis are destroying cities along the Pacific Rim in book 7 of this science fiction mystery series. Geophysicist Alex Cave discovers and ancient alien laboratory under the Northern Pacific Ocean. He and his friends, Jadin and Okana, manage to get inside and meet Seti, and artificial intelligence in charge of the experiments, but its program has been corrupted and it tricks Alex into entering the parallel universe experiment. Jadin and Okana think Seti is showing Alex the technology when he suddenly vanishes. An instant later, he reappears and topples out of the chamber onto the floor, unconscious. They see the bleeding wound on Alex's head and his clothes are different, and think he has traveled through time, but the truth will have a devastating effect on society as they know it. The Parallel: Alex looks up from the floor at Jadin, but her hair is brown instead of red, and Okana has a beard. When he gets up, he realizes he was tricked into entering an alternate reality. He finds himself in a society decades ahead of his own, and most of the people he knows are here, but things are slightly different. In this reality, he and Jadin are married and Okana is the team leader, and decades of global warming have caused all the glaciers to melt and the oceans to rise by 250 feet. He learns in this society, most of his family was killed for protesting the replacement child law, where someone had to die before a new baby can be artificially inseminated and born, claiming it's for population control. The only family member to survive is his nephew, Derek Cave, who leads the rebels living in the forests and having multiple natural childbirths. Things go from bad to worse when he discovers one part of this society has gone to extremes to save the minds of the geniuses who make their lives worth living, whether they like it or not, and he wants no part of it. To add to his desperation, this reality is like a magnet to his physiology, and is slowly draining his energy. Even though this version of Jadin loves him more than the one he replaced, and she wants him to stay, he convinces her he cannot because this reality is killing him. She reluctantly agrees to help him and they begin a desperate search for his spacecraft, but she reminds him the other Alex did not have one, so maybe there is no spaceship in this reality and he can never get home. A fantastic ride, with thrilling scenarios, exhilarating situations, and nail-biting suspense, by this bestselling and award-winning author. Find out what happens by grabbing your copy now
