RADIATION SAFETY

About RADIATION SAFETY

The monograph is devoted to one of the problems of radiation protection of personnel working in facilities used by radiation sources, as well as the population of the republic. The monograph presents the collection and analysis of materials on the characteristics of radiation accidents and incidents that took place in the world for the period from the moment of the first radiation accident (1944) to 2017. The causes of the most significant radiation accidents and incidents have been identified and systematized. The probability of radiation events in the conditions of the Republic of Uzbekistan is also considered, taking into account the nature of the radiation sources used and the assessment of the possible consequences of radiation incidents. The data obtained made it possible to make recommendations to minimize the consequences of radiation incidents. Taking into account the analysis, a number of measures have been proposed in the event of radiation incidents in order to prevent exposure of both personnel and the public. The nature of these measures should depend on the type of radiation incident.
