Religious Narratives in Italian Literature after the Second Vatican Council

This book presents a semiotic study of the re-elaboration of Christian narratives and values in a corpus of Italian novels published after the Second Vatican Council (1960s). It tackles atypical models of sanctity; post-modern apocalyptic narratives and conceptions of providence; the semiotic role of the Pope as a character; the theme of the creative power of language; the role of liturgy, ritual and religious aesthetics in the narrative texts.
